According to the NJCL website, "The National Junior Classical League is an organization for middle and high school students in classical courses. NJCL proudly holds the honor of being one of the largest academic youth organizations in the world. There are over 35,000 members in approximately 1,000 chapters, located in almost every state and in several foreign countries. Established in 1936, the organization seeks to promote the study of Latin and Greek, to benefit students and teachers alike, and to impart an understanding of the debt of our own culture to that of classical antiquity."
There are approximately 80 JCL chapters in Georgia (under the jurisdiction of the GJCL), located across the state, although many are in the Atlanta Metro Area. Cobb County is home to about half a dozen of these, including, of course, our very own Kell JCL.
We very fondly refer to our chapter simply as 'Club,' and we meet once each week in school throughout the academic year, in room #2407. We are open to any Latin student or Classics enthusiast. Dues are $8 per year; otherwise, all you need to bring is a positive attitude! Snacks, activities, and good fun will be provided.
For more information, or if you have a specific question, please email us or send us a message through the 'Contact Us' page!
